Workshops

The HILL has trained hundreds of educators to use DIBELS to improve literacy instruction, as part of our School Wide Transformation projects.  We provide dedicated workshops in districts nationwide, and open workshops at our offices in Woburn MA. The next workshops in Woburn are June 19 and June 20:

DIBELS Next Transition Workshop - Day-1:  Administration & Scoring

The DIBELS Next Transition Workshop is designed to support educators who currently use DIBELS 6th Edition and want to learn how to administer and score DIBELS Next. This one-day workshop will briefly review the foundations of DIBELS, provide a description of the changes to all DIBELS Next measures, and offer training and practice on administering and scoring the new measures.  Participants will receive "DIBELS Next Transition Workshop" training materials, practice benchmark booklets, free parking, certificate of attendance, morning coffee and lunch.

This one-day workshop will provide:

  • Brief Review of Foundations
  • Introduction of What is New in DIBELS Next
  • Training and Practice in the Administration and Scoring of the New DIBELS Next Measures

DIBELS Next Workshop - Day 2:  Interpretation and Planning

The second day of training helps you to further interpret results and link data to instruction. The DIBELS Next data provide teachers, administrators and parents with reliable information to provide intervention in a timely manner to keep students on the path to reading and school success. Now that you are using DIBELS Next to assess children's reading skills, learn how to design interventions, group students for instruction and monitor progress in this additional 1 day workshop. The DIBELS Next Day-2 Workshop is designed to provide:

  • Tools for analyzing and grouping students for instruction
  • Plans for designing interventions for addressing student needs
  • An introduction to progress monitoring

DIBLES workshops can be delivered in schools nationwide

Typical Course Fee:

  • Single day: $200 per person / $180 when three or more persons from a district or school attend the same day.
  • In School delivery starts at $2,000.

About DIBELS

The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of procedures and measures for assessing the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through sixth grade. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy and early reading skills.  DIBELS is used widely in school districts throughout the country.

DIBELS Next

DIBELS Next is an upgrade provided in 2010.  It retained the best of DIBELS, but has been updated to increase ease of use and accuracy of results.
